We arrived this morning in snowy Frankfurt. Overheard conversations of passengers who had been stranded in New York because the Frankfurt airport had been closed yesterday due to icy runways. Georg told us 3000 passengers had to overnight at the Frankfurt airport because of the weather. When it feels as if life as I know it may end when we hit patches of turbulence over the Atlantic, I am always able to put things into perspective, and just so glad to arrive safely.
Georg brought Baumkuchen, and I thoroughly ENJOYED my German classic tea with condensed milk. Was fun to have a view onto snow-dusted hills from our living room. The Pasottis and Susan gave us such a warm welcome in abstentia--house wreath, Advent wreath, window decorations, homemade Christmas cookies, fridge filled with the staples, candles and little gifts in nearly every room!
Michael played all day with his friend Lukas and is now building the V-19 Lego Star Wars model he received from Omi, Opi, and Georg for his birthday. Patrick and Nick installed ubuntu--or something like that--on an old computer, and everyone seems happy to be in our own space again, as nice as our special California home was for the last four months.
