Our neighbor Al recommended Point Lobos Nature Reserve for a hike after our two-hour drive to the Monterey Peninsula.
At North Point, the waves were impressive. Then off Cypress Cove, the bay was incredibly blue and calm. I'd only brought what the kids called "birdfood" (trail mix, pumpkin and sunflower seeds), so without a McDonald's in sight, we had to leave after a few hours to go to Carmel-by-the-Sea for lunch.
