Wicked the Musical

I am still in seventh heaven after seeing Wicked with Mary in San Francisco last night. The musical was fabulous! I would go see it again in a minute--so clever, great voices, great message, amazing set/costumes. I had zero expectations, didn't even know what it was about when Mary asked if I was interested in seeing it.

It's the story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz, but as children/teenagers. Elphaba, the "wicked witch," was born green and ostracized by her parents and all the children.

Eden Espinosa played Elphaba and was amazing. Even though she was green, she touched on the universal--an outcast who only wants the best, a girl, then woman with integrity. Her voice was incredible. Lots of social commentary going on during the whole show, but it was a great story, love story, and story of friendship, as well as a tale of how things aren't always as they seem. I was captivated from start to finish...and was so nice to have a night on the town with Mary.
