Theodor Seuss Geisel was actually a pretty interesting guy. Michael told about how he was voted Least Likely to Succeed at Dartmouth College, but "succeeded very much." In his research he learned that Dr. Seuss grew up speaking German, and that the books signed Theo LeSieg are the ones Geisel wrote, but didn't illustrate (look closely at the last name and see what it is when read backwards). His first book, "And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street," was rejected by 27 publishers before a friend got it accepted by the publishing house he worked for.
Michael finished his spiel with the fact that all of "his" 42 books are still in print, even though he died 20 years ago. Quite an accomplishment!
Because of his report, we also went to see "Seussical the Musical" in Mountain View!
