Michael's 9th Birthday

Michael had a happy 9th birthday with Lego Star Wars theme! The whole family came out for a birthday brunch with Michael's favorite corn chowder and Yule log cake! He built his Lego clone walker, spider droid, and echo base as they came in, and has a V-19 from grandparents waiting for him in Eppstein! He used all the money that came from other relatives for a Nintendo DS; now he just needs to wait for Christmas to receive game cartridges!

In the afternoon, we went to the Menlo Park train station to see a model train exhibition with the young cousins. It was quite the senior citizen male crowd there!

A kiddie party was too risky in an exchange house, but Walker stopped by anyway and brought a beautiful gingerbread house kit for Michael. After all the guests left, Michael let his creativity flow as he decorated the house and created marshmallow snowmen fighting with jellybean light sabers and gingerbread men with swirled peppermint candy for eyes (zombies)! He kept repeating, "what a genius idea for a gift," "That was so genius to give that as a birthday gift," "So genius--I would never have come up with that idea." The day was a success.

Thanks to all who sent gifts or came to help celebrate!
